"Ford Cologne Plant goes VIRTUAL! The secret behind a successful transformation of an assembly plant with 1000 people."
Congratulations!
At the 2019 Assembly Engineering conference the Automotive Circle bestowed again the Assembly Engineering Innovation Award.
We are very pleased at this opportunity to honor the best and most inspiring innovations from the serial production of leading automotive manufacturers.

Alternative drive types and the trend towards ever more individual product variants ensure that the call for flexible assembly and logistics processes can be heard ever louder.  In order to increase the flexibility of final assembly and optimize the efficiency of the individual process steps, assembly increasingly relies on new technologies, data exchange and connected production systems.

However, the more final assembly is digitized, the more interfaces arise and the more data flows. IT security and data protection therefore play a central role in minimizing vulnerability and in taking full advantage of the opportunities offered by IoT.

At the Automotive Circle conference on Assembly Engineering that took place in Bad Nauheim/Germany on 19-20 February 2019, international experts on final assembly discussed these topics and provided answers to the crucial questions that determine the success of assembly.

Topics at the conference amongst others:

  • virtual commissioning methods and digital twins at BMW
  • a versatile production based on the object-coupled assembly system at Daimler
  • the secret of the successful transformation that the assembly plant at Ford's Cologne site is going through
  • current logistics strategies of Japanese manufacturers such as Honda and Nissan
  • the protection of your assembly against cyber attacks - with live demo of a cyber attack on a production plant!
